Back and Neck Pain
Approximately two-thirds of the population suffer from significant back and neck pain at some stage of their life. Advanced Physio has successfully treated more than 2000 cases of neck pain over the last 10 years. We provide the patient with relief from neck pain with a combination of treatments based on evidence-based diagnosis. The treatment for back and neck pain can include:
- Massages
- Support bracing
- Mobilisation (a gentle manual treatment that can improve joint function as well as stretch tight muscles and ligaments)
- Traction - which involves creating a sustained pull on the neck, and can bring fast relief for some people with neck pain, especially if the pain is related to nerve root irritation or muscle spasms
- Postural correction
- Supervised back and neck exercises can help speed up the healing process following a injury and reduce the risk of developing chronic pain.
People who have experienced neck pain lasting more than a few months can also benefit from exercise. Our team at Advanced Physio design individual programs assisting patients with increasing muscle flexibility and strength, thereby reducing muscle spasm.
"Bounceback"
We are also proud to announce that we have commenced exercise classes for suffers of low back and neck pain. Known as “bounceback” these were developed by Olympic Physiotherapist Trish Wisby-Roth, based on the latest scientific evidence. The classes are suitable for:
- Acute low back pain
- Chronic low back pain
- Recurrent low back pain
- Sports rehabilitation
- Core strengthening
- Acute neck pain
- Chronic neck pain
- Recurrent neck pain
- Spinal instability
These classes are performed in a small group setting in our clinic exercise area and are fully supervised by an Physiotherapist.
We are the first Newcastle practice accredited to conduct these classes.
