Declan is the assistant Physio for the Newcastle Jets Youth team.
Declan completed a season with the Newcastle Knights NSW cup side in his final year of University. There he worked as the medical trainer on gameday. He also worked as a game day trainer for a number of Soccer and Rugby Union teams.
Declan has a keen interest in all sports, where he plays hockey, indoor soccer and Oztag.
WHAT IS IT THAT YOU ENJOY ABOUT WORKING AT ADVANCED PHYSIO?
The clinic has excellent gym facilities and numerous experienced and highly qualified staff to work alongside. I enjoy working within a practice that also offers Exercise Physiology.
WHAT ADDITIONAL STUDY OR QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU HAVE?
I have recently completed a 3-day course on the advanced lumbar spine and pelvis, a 1-day advanced assessment and treatment for the elbow course, and a 3-day sports physiotherapy level 1 course. All of these were run by the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
I have also completed a Level 2 sports trainers certificate while providing game day Physiotherapy for Rugby League and Rugby Union teams. Furthermore I have completed over 100 hours of training in orthopaedic excellence of the spine and lower limb through the Medbridge global education program.
WHAT CONDITIONS OR PEOPLE DO YOU HAVE A SPECIAL INTEREST IN?
My special interests lay in the conditions I have sought extra training for. I have a particular interest in lumbar spine, elbow, hip, knee and ankle injuries. I have interest in sports injuries, fitness and strengthening programs also.
WHAT ARE YOUR EXTRACURRICULAR PASSIONS?
I like participating in most types of team sports, and spending time with family and friends.
