Evan Armstrong

Evan has a keen interest in strength and conditioning, and promoting physical activity and health for all ages. He has a particular interest in knee, hip and shoulder health, including cervical related headaches and children’s sport.

Evan's final Masters of Physiotherapy paper was on progressing squat depth, and he is a member of the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association.

Evan's main sports involvement has been with Australian Rules Football, where he acted as a senior player management consultant.

Evan comes from a background of school teaching, where he taught across several schools, including special needs and high school. He majored in physical education and English, also teaching science and outdoor education, before deciding to focus on physiotherapy as a challenging and rewarding career path.

Evan enjoys helping others realise their goals and be their best selves, finding great contentment in working with a range of people and presentations.

He enjoys studying wellness and mindfulness, believing strongly in facilitating the healing of the whole person and their unique characteristics.

Originally from southern Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, Evan loves all things coastal. He barracks for the mighty Cats in the AFL and has adopted the Newcastle Jets and Knights in the other codes. He enjoys weight training, bush walking and swimming. Evan likes to unwind with all types of music, and reading biographies and the Sunday paper.

What is it that you enjoy about working at Advanced Physio?

I enjoy working within a dedicated and friendly team, focused on a very high level of care, service and professional development. I enjoy our patients being able to access the great gym facility and equipment, so that we can provide for the best possible health outcomes. I also enjoy the general conversation with people of all ages.        

What additional study or qualifications do you have?

I have completed a bachelor's degree in Physical Education, and a graduate certificate in Literature. I have also completed a Sports Medicine diploma. In January 2017, I completed 200 hours of training in orthopaedic excellence through the global education program provided by Medbridge. I previously worked in Australian Rules Football for three years as a senior trainer and player management consultant.

What conditions or people do you have a special interest in?

I enjoy all aspects of Physiotherapy and have a particular interest in Hips, Knees, Ankles and youth sport. I’m also passionate about writing fitness programs in general.  

What are your extracurricular passions?

I like weight training, hiking and swimming. I enjoy giving speeches in my public speaking club. I also like to relax with a coffee and a book.
